Best All-Inclusive Resorts in South Carolina
In my recent travels across South Carolina, I’ve graded some of the best all-inclusive resorts in the state. My evaluations are based on their location, ambience, dining, amenities, service quality, and a combination of guest reviews and my observations.
Hilton Head Health

Set on the picturesque Hilton Head Island in South Carolina, Hilton Head Health offered me an ideal retreat. The island’s charm, with its serene beaches and lush landscapes, added to the peacefulness of my wellness journey. The resort, known for its health, wellness, and weight loss programs, provided an environment that encouraged personal growth and relaxation.
The dining experience at True Dining was exceptional. The restaurant’s focus on healthy, locally sourced American and multi-ethnic cuisine, all within the dietary guidelines of Hilton Head Health, made each meal a delightful surprise. Additionally, the Healthy Kitchen offered an educational experience where I learned how to prepare nutritious meals, a skill I looked forward to bringing home.
The resort’s amenities enhanced my wellness experience significantly. I enjoyed the heated pool and hot tub and found the wooden saunas relaxing. The Indigo Spa was a highlight of my stay, offering various treatments that rejuvenated my body and mind. The fitness facilities were comprehensive, catering to various interests and fitness levels.
The level of service and hospitality at Hilton Head Health was remarkable. Their attentive and personalised service made my experience memorable and rewarding. My experiences resonate with those of other guests. Reviews frequently mention the transformative nature of stays at Hilton Head Health, praising the effective wellness programs, high-quality food, and the staff’s dedication.
However, the menu at Hilton Head Health in South Carolina is exceptionally limited, and the dining room service tends to be slow.
Legends Resort

During my visit to Legends Resort, nestled in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, I was struck by its prime location. The resort’s proximity to the famous Myrtle Beach Grand Strand offered stunning beach views and easy access to a thriving golfing scene. The Scottish-inspired theme of the resort immediately captivated me.
My accommodation in one of the Scottish-inspired village condos, a short distance from the clubhouse, was a true highlight. These two and three-bedroom condos, aptly named Turnberry Village, were spacious, comfortable, and inspired by Scottish charm.
The Ailsa Pub within the resort quickly became my favourite dining spot. This Scottish-American-style restaurant offered both indoor and outdoor seating, creating a welcoming environment for every meal. The menu was diverse, ranging from casual nachos to more sophisticated house-cut steaks, satisfying my cravings and offering a delightful culinary experience each time.
Legends Resort impressed me with its comprehensive amenities. The 54 holes of golf were a dream come true for a golf enthusiast like me. The Myrtle Beach Grand Strand’s largest practice facility allowed me to work on my game effectively. Beyond golf, the resort offered a tennis court, a fitness centre, and a spa, ensuring a well-rounded experience.
The service at Legends Resort was noteworthy for its warmth and professionalism. Every staff member I encountered went above and beyond to make my stay enjoyable and comfortable. Reflecting on the reviews from other guests, it’s clear that my positive experiences were not unique. Everyone consistently praised the quality of the golf courses, the comfort of the accommodations, and the friendliness of the staff.
One significant drawback was that the golf courses were frequently overbooked. This meant that securing a tee time and enjoying a round of golf often required more effort and patience than expected.
Omni Hilton Head Oceanfront Resort

The Omni Hilton Head Oceanfront Resort is off the coast of South Carolina. It’s easy to get to by air or road. The moment I arrived, I was amazed by the beauty of the place. The resort looks out over the Atlantic Ocean and a lovely beach.
The rooms were some of the biggest hotel rooms I’ve ever stayed in. The decor was soothing with neutral tones, but the ocean views and pops of colour made it special. Each room has a mini-kitchen, which comes in handy, and a private balcony.
The food was excellent. There’s HH Prime, where I had some of the best steaks and seafood. For more casual eating, Palmetto Market was my go-to. They had a great selection for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. XO Sports & Spirits was a cool spot to unwind in the evening. Then, there’s Breeze and Buoy Bar by the pool, with great snacks and tropical drinks.
There’s no shortage of things to do at the resort. I had access to golf courses, trails for walking or biking, tennis courts, and, not to forget, several pools. The spa was my favourite spot to relax. Plus, the fitness centre is open 24/7, so I could work out anytime.
The staff at the resort were outstanding. They were attentive, friendly, and always ready to help. This made my stay comfortable and memorable. Chatting with other guests, I got the sense that they were just as impressed as I was. Everyone seemed to love the resort for its beautiful setting, delicious food, and fantastic service.
During my stay at the Omni Hilton Head Oceanfront Resort in South Carolina, my room rate was unexpectedly changed without prior notice, causing confusion about the total cost of my stay.
Homewood Suites by Hilton Columbia

During my visit to Columbia, I stayed at the Homewood Suites by Hilton, located conveniently on Greystone Boulevard. Upon entering the resort, I was greeted by an atmosphere that felt more like a comfortable home than a typical hotel. The ambience wasn’t overly luxurious but provided a warm and inviting environment.
I stayed in a spacious, tailor-made suite for both short-term and extended stays. It was well-appointed with a fully-equipped kitchen, including a full-size refrigerator, cooktop, dishwasher, and microwave, which I found extremely convenient.
One of the highlights of my stay was the complimentary hot breakfast provided by the hotel. The variety and quality were more than satisfactory, offering a great start to my day. However, the hotel didn’t have an on-site restaurant for other meals, so I often explored nearby dining options for lunch and dinner.
The Homewood Suites offered a range of amenities that I found useful during my stay. Though smaller than expected, the fitness centre had essential equipment for a basic workout. The business centre and conference facilities were convenient for guests on a business trip. Additional amenities like a convenience store, free parking, and high-speed internet access were thoughtful touches that enhanced my overall experience.
Reflecting on the experiences shared by other guests, it’s clear that opinions varied. While some guests highlighted the comfort and convenience of the hotel, others pointed out areas for improvement, particularly regarding the fitness centre and breakfast. Despite these mixed reviews, the consensus, which I share, is that the hotel’s location and amenities make it a worthwhile choice for a comfortable stay.
During my stay at Homewood Suites by Hilton Columbia in South Carolina, I encountered a significant issue: my room was filled with dust. This lessened the overall comfort and cleanliness of the room.
Francis Marion Hotel

The Francis Marion Hotel is ideally situated in the heart of Downtown Charleston, on the corner of King and Calhoun Street, overlooking Marion Square. Stepping into the hotel was like stepping back in time. The hotel, named after the Revolutionary War hero, boasts a rich history from 1924. Its 1920s elegance and modern comfort blend created a grand and welcoming atmosphere.
I chose a Deluxe Room for my stay. The room featured a king bed with a heavenly pillow-top mattress draped in luxurious bedding. The room was spacious, with a sitting area, a marble and granite bathroom, and a well-equipped work area. The view of the historic Charleston harbour from my room was simply breathtaking.
Dining at the Swamp Fox Restaurant within the hotel was a highlight of my stay. The restaurant specialises in Lowcountry cuisine, using fresh, local ingredients. The meals were a delightful exploration of Southern flavours. Additionally, I appreciated the convenience of room service for meals when I preferred to dine in my room.
The hotel offered several amenities that enhanced my experience. Complimentary Wi-Fi was available throughout the hotel, spa services helped me relax, and a Starbucks was on-site for my morning coffee. The hotel also provided concierge services, which helped me plan my outings. Moreover, the hotel’s meeting and banquet facilities were impressive and suited for business and leisure events.
From the front desk to the restaurant staff, the staff at the resort was attentive and courteous. Reflecting on other guests’ reviews, I noticed a common appreciation for the hotel’s location and its historic charm.
However, some guests mentioned that certain areas, particularly the bathrooms, could benefit from modernisation.
Wentworth Mansion
Source: Wentworth Mansion
I recently stayed at Wentworth Mansion, in the heart of Charleston’s historic district. This place is like stepping into a time machine. It’s full of old-world charm and luxury. It has tin ceilings and Tiffany glass from the 1800s. It felt like I was living in a different era.
My room was one of 21, each with its unique style. The room was amazing. It had a huge whirlpool tub, a fireplace for who knows when, and even a private porch. It was like having the best of the old days but with all the modern comforts.
Eating at Circa 1886 was something else. It’s in the mansion’s old carriage house. The place is one of the top spots in Charleston. The setting was romantic, and the food perfectly tasted the local cuisine.
Then there was the spa. It’s in what used to be the mansion’s stables. The place smelled like eucalyptus, and the high ceilings and old beams made it so relaxing. The treatments there really helped me unwind and feel refreshed.
The people at Wentworth Mansion were great. They were always there to help, making my stay unforgettable. Talking to other guests, I found they all felt the same. The mansion is like a treasure in Charleston. It’s got this mix of old charm and new comforts that everyone loves.
But, there was one thing. The lighting in my room wasn’t great. In the morning, it was almost too dark.
Marriott Myrtle Beach Resort & Spa at Grande Dunes

During my visit to Myrtle Beach, I chose the Marriott Myrtle Beach Resort & Spa at Grande Dunes for its stunning location. Nestled on the coast, the resort offered breathtaking views of the Atlantic Ocean. The lobby was elegantly designed, blending modern aesthetics with comfort.
My room at the resort was a haven of comfort and style. The ocean view from my window was simply mesmerising. The room was spacious, featuring a plush king-sized bed, a modern bathroom, and a seating area perfect for unwinding. The tasteful decor and amenities, like a flat-screen TV and high-speed internet, made my stay comfortable and enjoyable.
The dining experience at the resort was a culinary delight. I particularly enjoyed meals at Ocean’s on 82nd, which served an array of mouthwatering dishes. The fresh seafood was a highlight, showcasing the local flavours. The restaurant’s ambience was sophisticated and welcoming, making each dining experience special.
The amenities at the Marriott were impressive. The pool area was my favourite relaxing spot to soak up the sun. The spa offered a serene escape with rejuvenating and relaxing treatments. For fitness enthusiasts, the gym was well-equipped and maintained. The resort also caters to golf lovers with its proximity to top-notch golf courses.
In line with the reviews I read from other guests, my experience at the resort was overwhelmingly positive. Most guests praised the resort for its stunning location, luxurious amenities, and excellent service.
The pool water was surprisingly chilly during my stay at Marriott Myrtle Beach Resort & Spa in South Carolina. This made it less enjoyable for a relaxing swim, especially when the weather wasn’t very warm.
Montage Palmetto Bluff

I also stayed at the Montage Palmetto Bluff, located in a coastal part of South Carolina. The resort is surrounded by nature, with rivers, marshes, and forests. The ambience at the resort struck me immediately. The place combines luxury with the serene and scenic environment of the Lowcountry. The grounds are expansive, with waterways and oak trees.
I stayed in a beautifully furnished room at the resort. It had comfortable furniture and a private balcony with stunning views. The decor reflected the beauty of the Lowcountry, making it a relaxing retreat after a day of exploring.
The food at Montage Palmetto Bluff was outstanding. I tried different restaurants, like River House, with its seafood and waterfront views, and Octagon, with classic Southern dishes. The food quality and service were excellent, making every meal special.
The resort offered a diverse range of amenities that enhanced my stay. I enjoyed leisurely bike rides through scenic trails and indulged in rejuvenating spa treatments. The exquisite pools provided a relaxing escape, and the challenging golf course offered stunning views. The marina also offered various water-based activities.
The service at Montage Palmetto Bluff was unparalleled. Every staff member I encountered was attentive, knowledgeable, and genuinely warm. Based on the reviews of other guests, the general agreement was very positive. Many praised the resort’s idyllic setting, luxurious amenities, and outstanding service.
But the exclusivity and high-end amenities at the resort came with a hefty price.
The Sanctuary at Kiawah Island Golf Resort

I found The Sanctuary beautifully nestled on Kiawah Island, a mere 21 miles from Charleston. Walking into The Sanctuary felt like entering a grand, old seaside house. It’s elegant and welcoming.
My room was a luxurious and comfortable haven. It had every detail carefully considered for relaxation and rejuvenation after daily adventures.
The food was incredible. I had steak at The Ocean Room and seafood at The Atlantic Room. Jasmine Porch and The Ryder Cup Bar had unique dishes. Tomasso at Turtle Point was a cool mix of Italian and local flavours. There were many other spots like Cherrywood BBQ & Ale House and Beaches & Cream. They had all kinds of food, so I never got bored.
I was impressed by the array of amenities. The spa and salon were a highlight, offering treatments inspired by the seaside setting. The pools, both indoor and outdoor, provided a refreshing escape. The well-equipped fitness centre was a major plus for fitness enthusiasts like me.
The service at The Sanctuary was exceptional. The staff’s meticulous attention to every detail and personalised service made my stay memorable and comfortable. In my interactions with other guests, I found a shared appreciation for the resort’s stunning location and diverse dining options.
While staying at Sanctuary at Kiawah Island Golf Resort in South Carolina, I had a bad experience with restaurant service. They stopped serving food at 11, which limited dining options and affected my overall experience.
The Dewberry Charleston

I recently stayed at The Dewberry Charleston, and I have to say, it’s a real gem in the heart of the city. It’s perfectly placed to soak up Charleston’s history and culture. The hotel’s unique look and Charleston-style vibe stood out to me.
My room at The Dewberry was pure luxury. It had these remarkable Stickley armoires and the comfiest Irish linens. They paid attention to the little things. The minibar was well-stocked, and the bathrobes and slippers were super cosy.
Eating at the Dewberry was unforgettable. The Living Room felt just like a cosy Charleston living room. It was great for grabbing a bite or a drink. Then, there was the Citrus Club on the 8th floor. It’s the highest rooftop in Charleston. The views there were incredible, and the cocktails and snacks were perfect.
A Charleston carriage house has inspired the Dewberry Spa. It was so peaceful and luxurious. Lydia Mondavi designed the spa treatments. They use local ingredients like the dewberry plant, which is refreshing. The fitness studio was top-notch, too. It had everything I needed and was open every day.
The service at The Dewberry made my stay special. Everyone working there was so attentive. They made sure my stay was memorable. Talking with other guests, it seemed like they all loved the mix of old-world charm and modern luxury.
It’s worth noting that The Dewberry may have fewer staff members than larger hotels, resulting in longer wait times, such as the 45-minute wait for breakfast one morning.
Takeaway
I’ve been to quite a few all-inclusive resorts in South Carolina. Each one has its unique touch. Some are perfect for families or couples. Others are great for someone going solo.
What caught my attention was how different each resort’s all-inclusive package was. Some places focus on outdoor activities. They’re great if you love adventure. Others are all about relaxing. One thing they all had in common was the Southern hospitality. The staff at every resort made sure we felt at home. This made all my stays special.
South Carolina’s all-inclusive resorts have something for everyone. Whether you want adventure, relaxation, or luxury, you’ll find a resort that fits. My trips to these places were more than just stays. They were memorable experiences.
