Located on the Tennessee River, surrounded by the Appalachian Mountains, Chattanooga is a place where natural beauty, history and a forward-thinking attitude come together. It’s a city that invites outdoor adventures, while the streets are alive with art, culture and food that’s hard to resist.

On my recent trip to this city, I visited the top-rated resorts in person to see what they offer. This review is from my travels and shows how much time I spent exploring the grounds, trying out the restaurants and enjoying the cosy rooms. It’s about the quiet moments in the morning on a balcony overlooking the Tennessee River and how each resort captures the best aspects of Chattanooga.

So, let’s go through my journey to the best resorts in Chattanooga and find out which one I liked the most.

Best Resorts in Chattanooga, Tennessee

In my reviews, I looked closely at several things: the location of the resorts, the general atmosphere, the quality of the food, the range of facilities, how good the service was, feedback from other guests and my own experiences. I aimed to dig deeper to understand what made each resort stand out. I closely looked at everything from the tranquil location to the delicious meals to the unique amenities that provide comfort.

The Chattanoogan Hotel, Curio Collection by Hilton

The hotel’s Southside district location is at the heart of Chattanooga’s cultural and social hub. When I stepped into the lobby, I was greeted with a modern yet cosy atmosphere that felt welcoming. The surrounding area, with its array of shops, restaurants, and art galleries, contributed to the lively yet relaxed vibe of the hotel.

The room I stayed in was a testament to the Chattanoogan’s commitment to comfort and style. It was spacious and had a modern decor reflecting the Southside district’s artistic flair. The room had all the modern amenities one would expect and offered a view that captured the urban landscape of Chattanooga.

Dining at The Chattanoogan was an adventure in itself. The hotel has several restaurants, but the Forge captured my palate. I indulged in the main course, the Tennessee Whiskey Glazed Salmon, a culinary delight, perfectly prepared and rich in flavour. The restaurant’s ambience and attentive service made every meal an unforgettable experience.

The resort amenities made my stay even more enjoyable. The spa was an oasis of relaxation and offered a variety of treatments that left me feeling rejuvenated. The fitness centre was well equipped and catered to all my exercise needs. The hotel’s proximity to local attractions meant that adventure was never far away.

From the moment I arrived, the staff went out of their way to make my stay as enjoyable as possible. Their recommendations for local attractions and restaurants were invaluable. My experience matched the positive feedback I had read from other guests. The consensus was clear: The Chattanoogan is known for its welcoming atmosphere and exceptional food.

The only downside was the car parking situation. The hotel has no car park, so guests must use a paid car park half a block away.

The Edwin Hotel

The Edwin’s ambience is a rich tapestry of local artistry and modern elegance. With its location on the riverbank, the hotel serves as a gateway to Chattanooga’s vibrant culture and breathtaking natural scenery. The lobby and common areas are adorned with works from local artists.

Rooms at The Edwin reflect the charm of Chattanooga and combine comfort with a sophisticated aesthetic. My room featured plush furnishings, quality bedding and a mesmerising river view. It was a personal retreat after a day of adventure in the city.

Edwin’s culinary experience was topped off with a visit to Whitebird, the hotel’s signature restaurant. It is the epitome of Southern hospitality with a modern twist. The main course, the Chattanooga Whiskey Braised Short Rib, was a revelation – tender, flavoursome and beautifully paired with local sides. It was an unforgettable meal that showcased the culinary richness of the region.

At the Edwin, not only is the soul catered for, but also every practical need and luxury. Pets are welcome, making it a perfect choice for travellers with furry companions. The spa was an oasis of calm for me. The business centre and Wi-Fi ensured connectivity and productivity at all times.

Service at The Edwin was impeccable. From the warm reception at check-in to the attentive care in the restaurants and spa, every interaction was marked by genuine hospitality. My sentiments echo the positive reviews from other guests. The blend of exceptional service, exquisite dining, and a unique ambience makes The Edwin a standout.

However, their on-site restaurant, the Whiskey Thief, does not accommodate young children. This restriction might be a drawback for families looking to enjoy a meal together within the hotel.

From the moment I stepped into The Read House, I was captivated by its captivating atmosphere. The echoes of the roaring ’20s resonated through the soaring lobby ceilings, dramatic chandeliers, chequered floors, and polished wood-clad walls.

My room perfectly encapsulated the hotel’s fusion of historic charm and modern comfort. With luxurious bedding, tasteful décor and state-of-the-art amenities, it was an oasis of relaxation. It was truly commendable how care was taken to preserve the hotel’s historic character while providing modern comforts.

Dining at The Read House was a delightful experience. Bridgeman’s Chophouse, the hotel’s on-site restaurant, presented a menu tantalising my taste buds. With pet-friendly policies, a luxurious spa and a well-equipped business centre, the hotel ensures a comfortable and convenient stay for all guests. Whether you are travelling for leisure or business, the hotel caters to all needs with sophistication and grace.

The staff provided exceptional service throughout my stay, from the warm welcome at check-in to their attentive care. My personal experience resonates with the glowing reviews from other guests.

The only minor hiccup I encountered was a slight delay in luggage delivery to my room, which took approximately 30 minutes. While this did not significantly impact my overall experience, it’s an area where efficiency could be improved.

The Hotel Chalet

As I arrived at The Chattanooga Choo Choo campus, where The Hotel Chalet is located, I felt transported to an era of railway adventures. Inspired by the rich history of U.S. Railways, which once encouraged travel through the creation of lodges and chalets, this property exudes a nostalgic charm. The ambience is truly enchanting, with 127 guest rooms, including 25 in restored Victorian train carriages.

Opting for one of the Victorian train carriage rooms, I was drawn to the charm of a unique lodging experience. The room’s attention to detail and authentic railway-themed décor impressed me, offering modern comforts while preserving its historical charm.

Dining at Elsie’s Daughter, the on-site restaurant, was a culinary delight. Their take on classic Southern cuisine, particularly the shrimp and grits, showcased both the chef’s skill and the region’s culinary heritage. The complimentary breakfast spread was equally impressive, setting the perfect start for a day of exploration.

Apart from the distinctive lodging, The Hotel Chalet has amenities catering to relaxation and recreation. There’s something for everyone here, from the outdoor swimming pool to the fitness centre and communal lounges.

The local staff’s knowledge sweetened my visit with personalised recommendations that improved my Chattanooga experience. My experiences at the hotel match what many other guests said. I remember one guest telling me about how they came back to The Hotel Chalet for their anniversary. They loved the unique atmosphere and friendly service they experienced on their first visit.

One minor drawback was the insulation in the train carriage rooms, which resulted in uneven temperatures. The thermostat didn’t accurately reflect the overall temperature. This affected areas further from the heat source, like the bed against the far wall.
